There are different services (e.g. passport and tax), but we only need a site for finding birth certificate, so I'm going to copy the template of the site but change all the information on the page.
Here's the fake UK government site that I'm creating.
Hopefully we can use our twitter account, to not only reach our target audience, but to connect with other independent film companies, to get inspiration and feedback from people with experience.
Because we hardly get permissions from any of the locations (e.g. McDonalds/TopShop/Costa) for our film, we're rethinking about our locations. We discussed that we may go for independent shops as they're easier to get permissions. While we were rethinking about the locations, we've edited our animatics with sounds.
Jarrad editing our animatics and Charlie creating our twitter.
I set up a group twitter account - @powerpuffmedia This account will allow us to get in contact with our target audience and liaise with other independent film companies. I've set up a twitter feed that is linked directly to our blog that you can see on the right hand side.
Charlotte has create a Facebook group with all three of us in it. This makes it easier to communicate and we can discuss what things we have left to do etc.
Note: Our animatic is over five minutes long however some of the video clips are a little longer than they are supposed to be so it actually won't be over five minutes.
I have emailed various locations with regards to filming at certain places.
So far I have emailed, Debenhams, Costa, Topshop, Next, McDonalds & wrote a letter to a small non-chain music store.
Here is the email that I sent McDonalds - Dear Sir/Madam, I am currently filming a short film for my A2 Media course. I was wondering if it was possible to film a short section in your Crawley Sainsburys store. Please email me at fac14469@centralsussex.ac.uk if you have any questions or need any more information. Thank you, Yours Faithfully, Charlotte Faber.
Any replies/permission I receive, I shall post on the blog.
STICK OUT Director - Anthony Farquhar-Smith Released - 2012
- This short film uses a linear structure to show the journey of the stick. The reason it is linear is to show the audience the message of the film - Sometimes life is not about the destination. It is about the journey. You could apply Todorov's 5 Stage theory to this short film -
Equilibrium - Lollies all in line following each other
Disruption - when the stick breaks free
Confrontation - The stick confronting the outside world and exploring freedom
Resolution - The stick finding it's way back to another lolly
New Equilibrium - All the lollies are following each other again
- This film is also filmed using Stop Motion. This technique allows stationary objects to come alive.
- The non-diagetic music playing through the film also highlights this message. The music starts as dull and mundane, however when the stick becomes free the music changes to uplifting and happy. At the end of the short film the stick returns to a different lolly and the music changes back to dull and mundane. One could think that the message behind the music is that when following suit and doing what your told you will never be happy - however when you are free your journey begins and you can truly come alive. - What I love about this film is that there is no talking or speech. The music and pace of the film tells the audience all they need and allows them to interpret this film for themselves. This is definitely something I will think about when it comes to planning.
As we talked with Andrew and Olie, filming a TV directly with camera might not be able to capture the imagery in the screen clearly (eg. reflection), we decided to create a TV screen in editing suite instead.
Here's how I demonstrated the idea.
1. Find a game on Youtube (make sure it's HD)
This time, I used:
2. convert clip to MOV file using Youtube video converter
